Following a good return 98% votes in favour of a single branch.
Thanks to all of our members who returned their ballot papers.
We now need to elect officers as a matter of urgency in these difficult times. As was pointed out in the ballot letter, we need to move in a way that achieves this as soon as possible knowing that next year proper time schedules and notifications will be made.
We therefore need to move to our AGM as soon as practicable. This is, of course, dependent upon the nominations for the 15 Officer posts. Where there is more than one nomination for a post we will hold an election. Nominees for the contested posts will have their statements circulated to all members and we will hold either a postal vote or a secure email vote through a Returning Officer. We would like to attempt secure email voting this year but more information will follow. If posts are NOT contested, we will be able to move straight to an AGM. All nominations contested or not will be ratified accordingly at this meeting. Furthermore additional posts or roles can be proposed at the AGM and similarly modifications made to our structure if necessary.
Can we therefore ask for nominations with seconders for the following 15 posts:
Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Health & Safety Officer and Equality Officer. In addition we require nominations for a single representative from each of the seven schools making a total of 15 officers.
Please forward your nomination with a seconder, making it very clear for which post the nomination applies, to Rae Beaver (r.e.beaver@uel.ac.uk). BY 5pm THE 16TH DECEMBER.
